Marion County Marriage Affidavits
Alabama uses a marriage affidavit instead of a traditional marriage license. The Marion County Probate Office receives the completed affidavit and preserves the resulting marriage record. Each spouse signs before a notary public. The date on which both signatures are notarized becomes the marriage date. The Probate Office process is a filing workflow. It should not be described as applying for a Marion County marriage license. Marion County Marriage and Divorce Fees
The county marriage affidavit fee and domestic relations filing charges pay for different services. The marriage fee goes to Probate Court and includes one certified affidavit copy. Divorce filing and motion fees go through the Circuit Clerk's domestic relations division. State certificate fees apply when ordering from the Alabama Department of Public Health, not when requesting the full Circuit Court case file.

Divorce filing payment may be made by cash, money order, or cashier's check. Exact change is requested, and filing fees are nonrefundable. The clerk copy schedule is separate: copies up to 20 pages cost $5, pages after 20 cost 50 cents each, and clerk certification costs $5.
Search Marion County Marriage Records
The county's Ingenuity online services portal includes a Look up Marriage Records path. The same official portal also provides record account login, sign-up instructions, search instructions, and terms. If an online search cannot locate an older or differently indexed record, contact the Probate Office. Staff can help locate public records and explain the indexing system.
For a statewide certified marriage certificate, the Alabama Department of Public Health marriage certificate service charges a nonrefundable search fee that includes one certified copy or a Certificate of Failure to Find. A check or money order is payable to the Center for Health Statistics, and cash should not be sent. The state route can be useful when the county of filing is uncertain, while the Marion Probate path is direct for a known local affidavit.

Find Marion County Divorce Records
Divorce case files are domestic relations records kept by Clerk Denise L. Mixon at Marion County Courthouse. A paid Alacourt ACCESS search may show domestic relations case detail when the information is public. The free in-person fallback is the public name-search terminal inside the Circuit Clerk's Office during regular hours. Written requests can be mailed to P.O. Box 1595, Hamilton, AL 35570. Include the requester name, address, phone, documents wanted, whether certification is needed, and useful case identifiers. Mailed requests require a money order and self-addressed stamped envelope; personal checks are not accepted.
An uncontested divorce file without children may include the complaint, answer or waiver and agreement for taking testimony, notarized plaintiff testimony, separation agreement, divorce decree, and vital certificate. Cases with children add child support information, income affidavits, guideline forms, a compliance notice, and income withholding documents. Child information, financial identifiers, protection orders, minors' names, and confidential filings may be restricted or redacted even when the main divorce case is public.

Certified Marion County Divorce Records
A certified divorce decree comes from the Circuit Clerk's court file. A divorce certificate comes from ADPH and is a different, shorter vital record. Use the decree when the receiving agency needs the court's actual order. Use the certificate when a statewide vital-records summary will satisfy the request. The official Marion County records and copies instructions warn that written requests may take up to 30 days because of minimal staffing. For more immediate remote case detail, the office points users to Alacourt ACCESS, although paid portal information is not itself a substitute for a certified clerk copy.
A natural records path is to identify the case through the public terminal or Alacourt, send a precise written request, state that certification is required, and include the correct mailing items. Questions about the local copy process go to the Marion County Clerk of Court.
Alabama Divorce Certificate Search
The Alabama Department of Public Health is the statewide divorce certificate channel. It does not hold the complete Marion County pleadings, testimony, support forms, or decree in the same form as the Circuit Clerk's court file. The ADPH divorce certificate service is the right route when a certificate is requested or the county court file is not needed.
